A Berlin lottery player is celebrating a six-figure Eurojackpot win. But even larger sums are going to another German state.
For a lottery player from Berlin, the Eurojackpot draw on Friday evening ended with a success: With five correct numbers without the Euro number, he reached the third prize category and won 116,117.60 euros.
The Berlin winner shared his success with several other players from Germany and abroad. One Eurojackpot player from North Rhine-Westphalia, one from Rhineland-Palatinate, one from Saxony, and one from Schleswig-Holstein each won the same amount.
Internationally, one player each from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the Czech Republic enjoyed €116,117.60. Even higher winnings were achieved in the second prize category: By matching five correct numbers plus one Euro number, one player from North Rhine-Westphalia and one player from Norway each won €926,546.70 . The top prize in the first prize category remained untouched in Friday's drawing.
Players pay two euros per selected field, plus a one-time processing fee per ticket. In addition to the traditional paper ticket at lottery outlets, interested parties have other options: The state lottery companies and the t-online lottery service offer convenient online participation. Submission deadlines vary by state and end on Tuesdays and Fridays .
Eurojackpot draws take place twice a week in Helsinki under police supervision. The minimum jackpot is ten million euros, while the maximum prize is 120 million euros. To win the top prize, players must correctly predict five numbers between 1 and 50 and two Euro numbers between 1 and 12. The probability of winning the top prize (prize category 1) is 1:139,838,160. In the lowest prize category (prize category 12), just two correct main numbers plus one correct Euro number lead to a win – with a chance of 1:49.
