Gartenstadt Karlshorst: Construction work starts on new quarter with almost 200 apartments

Construction work has begun on the new "Garden City" residential quarter in Karlshorst in the Lichtenberg district. As Development City Berlin reported, the first cranes have been set up and the areas leveled. Work on the Bonava and Howoge housing project is progressing. The project at Köpenicker Allee 127-129 includes the construction of three apartment buildings with a total of 194 apartments, most of which are social housing. Of the planned units, 189 are subsidized, while only four are offered on the open market. The aim is to create modern living spaces with a sustainable approach.
Visible progress has been made since the beginning of the year. In addition to the preparatory work for the foundations, the construction cranes have been made available. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-2026. The "garden city" will also include five green outdoor areas and a local supply zone in order to offer future residents an improved infrastructure.
The entire project in Karlshorst is scheduled to be completed by 2031 with a total of 526 new residential units, including single-family homes and condominiums. The infrastructure will be supplemented by underground garages, charging facilities for electric vehicles and spacious green spaces. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months to bring the planned completion date closer to completion.
