Several events at the World Athletics Championships brought forward due to heat

Due to the expected heat in the Japanese capital Tokyo, all road races on the first three days of the World Athletics Championships will begin half an hour earlier than scheduled. The last-minute change affects the women's and men's 35-kilometer race walk events on Saturday, the women's marathon with Julia Mayer one day later, and the men's marathon with Aaron Gruen on Monday, as announced by World Athletics.
All competitions will begin at 12:30 a.m. Austrian time instead of 1:00 a.m. The health and safety of the athletes is the highest priority, according to a statement from the world governing body.
The World Championships in Tokyo begin on Saturday, unusually late in the year – in the hope that it won't be quite as hot as in midsummer in the Japanese metropolis. However, temperatures are still at a comparable level, according to World Athletics. Temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius are expected for Sunday and Monday. It will also be very humid in Tokyo.
