DJ Adidas confirms outlook for 2025, but sees increased uncertainties

By Ulrike Dauer

DOW JONES--Adidas has confirmed its full-year forecast following better-than-expected results in the first quarter, but pointed to increased uncertainties due to US tariffs and macroeconomic risks.

"While the company confirms its outlook, the range of possible results has widened since the outlook was published in March, the DAX-listed company said. "It now includes both improvement potential, reflecting the stronger-than-expected first-quarter results, and downside risks given the heightened uncertainty related to the potential direct and indirect impacts of higher US tariffs."

The bottom line is that the sporting goods manufacturer also earned significantly more in the period January to March than in the previous year, thus confirming the positive trend of the already announced preliminary results for sales and operating profit.

Profit before taxes amounted to EUR 585 million, compared to EUR 245 million. After taxes, the continuing operations generated a profit of EUR 436 million, compared to EUR 171 million in the previous year.

Earnings per share from continuing operations amounted to EUR 2.44, compared to EUR 0.96 in the previous year. After taxes and third-party expenses, profit amounted to EUR 428 million (previous year: EUR 170 million).

The final figures for sales, operating profit (EBIT) and gross margin were in line with the preliminary figures.
