For the United States, the fifth-largest economy is not only a major buyer of US military equipment and other goods, but also a key partner in its efforts to contain China's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Individual US companies, such as Apple, also rely on the country, a move the US president views with skepticism.

Due to the high US tariffs against China, Apple plans to increasingly supply iPhones for its US home market from India instead of China. The Cupertino-based company has ramped up production in India and set a goal of producing around 25 percent of all iPhones worldwide in the country in the coming years, thereby reducing its dependence on China. Currently, around 90 percent of flagship smartphones are built there.

Apple's plans, however, don't suit Trump at all. During his trip through the Middle East, he made it clear to Apple CEO Tim Cook: "I don't want you to build in India."

However, experts largely agree that shifting iPhone production to the US would be highly unlikely due to the final price. Various surveys estimate that an iPhone manufactured in the US would cost between $1,500 and $3,500.

Apple has recovered quite well from the tariff shock. However, the uncertainty is not yet over. Now that the stock is no longer on the recommendation list, it's worth waiting to see how it develops.

Note on conflicts of interest The board member and majority shareholder of the publisher Börsenmedien AG, Mr. Bernd Förtsch, has directly and indirectly entered into positions in the following financial instruments or derivatives related to them mentioned in the publication, which could benefit from any price development resulting from the publication: Apple.
