Once again, a government is promising a major construction offensive. It's urgently needed, because the housing shortage is severe. And dissatisfaction is growing.
The real estate market is picking up speed again, which sounds like good news – but it isn't. It means buyers and renters are already lining up to find a house or apartment. Demand has picked up noticeably, real estate portals are reporting these days. But supply isn't growing.
The federal government has made bold announcements about a major construction boost. However, many construction sites are still at a standstill, especially in major cities. The only thing that's growing in the industry is frustration.
