Successor to Markus Niederreiner: Specialty insurer Hiscox appoints Germany boss

Tim Bethge will take over the position of Managing Director at Hiscox Germany effective September 15, 2025. The 44-year-old moves from the Swiss division of Zurich Insurance to the specialist insurer.

Successor to Markus Niederreiner

Bethge succeeds Markus Niederreiner, who left the company in March. Until Bethge takes office, Tobias Wenhart, Head of Marketing, Products and Digital Channels, and Markus Klopfer, Head of Operations, will manage the business on an interim basis.

At Zurich Insurance, Bethge was responsible for the Swiss partner business until his move to Hiscox. During his 15-year career with the insurer, he held various management positions in underwriting, sales, and strategy. He began his career at Roland Berger in Munich.

Robert Dietrich, CEO of Hiscox Europe, sees Bethge as the ideal candidate to further develop the German market. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
