7-year-old girl was run over and killed in La Plata by underage thieves who were arrested

A 7-year-old girl died on Tuesday, February 25 during a robbery in the Altos de San Lorenzo area, in the La Plata district. Hours later, two teenagers, aged 14 and 17 , were arrested as a result of the tragedy.
The incident occurred when thieves stole a vehicle that was parked in front of a wholesale supermarket, at the intersection of 72nd and 24th streets. The criminals took the car with the girl inside and, after a few blocks, the minor was run over by the same vehicle, at 82nd and 28th streets.
Investigators suspect that the girl tried to get out of the moving car and, when she fell on the asphalt, she was trapped under the wheels, was dragged for several blocks and died . The minor was identified as Kim Gomez, 7 years old . Her mother, upon learning of the death, had to be restrained after going into a state of shock.
Escape and captureThe car was found in a vacant lot in Altos de San Lorenzo at the intersection of 84 and 26. The police carried out an operation to find the criminals in the area, while the experts began the tasks of analyzing the scene. Finally, the suspects were arrested and taken to the 8th police station in La Plata .
The prosecutor in the case, Eugenia Di Lorenzo , is analyzing the evidence collected so far. The autopsy report will be released on Wednesday, while the investigation continues with more statements and the material from surveillance cameras, both public and private, is expected to be incorporated into the file.
