A man dies after a fire in an apartment in Lérida

A man has died in Lérida after a fire broke out in an apartment on Príncipe de Viana Street. It was yesterday, Friday, at around 11:15 p.m. when the Generalitat Fire Department arrived at the scene after receiving an alert about smoke escaping from the balcony of the first floor of a six-story building.

Five teams with about fifteen personnel (three water trucks, a fire ladder truck, and a command vehicle) were dispatched to the scene. After locating the fire in one of the first-floor buildings, they asked the remaining residents to remain indoors while the fire was extinguished.

Inside the affected home, and as ventilation work began, emergency personnel located the man's lifeless body .

Five Mossos d'Esquadra officers also arrived at the scene of the accident, taking charge of the investigation. Two ground units from the Emergency Medical System (SEM) and Local Police officers were also dispatched.
