An irrigation ditch in the Valencian neighborhood of La Torre near the V-30 highway overflowed tonight as a result of heavy rains, according to the Valencia Local Police. The storm forced local police officers to inspect the flood-prone areas in the northern and southern districts to monitor the water levels in the ravines.

Eight roads closed

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has reported that a total of eight roads are closed to traffic as a result of the flooding: three in the Valencian Community, three in Catalonia, and two in Aragon.

Specifically, in the province of Valencia, the CV-472 highway, from kilometer 7.9 near Los Corrales to kilometer 8.29 in Las Cuevas, is experiencing complete traffic closures due to flooding; the CV-395 highway in both directions, from kilometer 17 in Chera to kilometer 27 in the town of Sot de Chera; and the CV-429 highway, from kilometer 16 in Yatova to kilometer 28 in Hortunas.

Meanwhile, in Aragon, the A-2306 highway near Azuara (Zaragoza) is closed to traffic from kilometer 35.72 to kilometer 33 in both directions due to flooding. The TE-V-1703 highway near Vinaceite (Teruel) is also closed from kilometer 3.6 to kilometer 3.8.

The Metrovalencia service, which is operating on a Saturday schedule today to adapt to the circumstances, suffered its first incidents this Monday due to rain, with traffic interrupted between Santa Rita and Llíria.

Red notices are extended

The red warnings for Tarragona and Castellón have been extended until 12:00 noon this Monday, as heavy rain continues in the area.

The Aemet (Mexico City Meteorological Agency) has expanded its alerts and raised the rain warning to orange for this Monday in the Region of Murcia.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has expanded its alerts for the Region of Murcia, raising the rainfall warning to orange, which will affect virtually the entire autonomous community this Monday. The orange alert, for rainfall that could produce up to 30 liters per square meter in one hour, will affect the Altiplano, Northwest, Vega del Segura, Guadalentín Valley, Lorca, and Águilas, from 12:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Likewise, another yellow alert predicts rainfall of up to 15 liters per square meter per hour in the Altiplano, Northwest, Vega del Segura, Guadalentín Valley, Lorca, and Águilas, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A yellow alert has been issued for the entire Region of Murcia, including Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón, from 6:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. All warnings have a probability of between 40 and 70 percent.

Roads closed in Tarragona

Between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. this Monday, hailstorms, strong gusts of wind, thunderstorms, and tornadoes are possible in Montsià and Baix Ebre (Tarragona), according to a Civil Protection warning. It also reported road closures.

Mobile alert in the Lower Ebro region

In Tarragona, classes have been suspended and a rain alert has been issued for the Baix Ebro and Montsià regions. In a message on 'X', Meteocat reported that the rainfall in Terres de l'Ebre is of "torrential intensity"—more than 40 millimeters of rain fell in 30 minutes. The line of precipitation left 45 millimeters of rain in 30 minutes in Alcanar (Tarragona) and is moving northward toward the Montsià and Baix Ebre regions.

Heavy rains in Valencia have caused the Saleta ravine in Aldaia to overflow and flood several streets.

The night from Sunday to Monday was tense for the residents of Aldaia, who could only see the waters of the Saleta ravine rising. Heavy rains during the night had residents of this Valencian town fearing the worst, with a red warning for heavy rain and storms. However, the cessation of the rain as the hours progressed and the floodgates installed by the City Council meant that, despite the ravine's overflowing, only a few neighborhoods were flooded.

Torrential rains in eastern Spain: Valencia, Castellón, and Tarragona are under red alert this Monday.

Good morning. The storm brought by former Hurricane Gabrielle has kept several provinces on alert for heavy rain since this weekend. On Sunday, images of flooded streets and garages, people being rescued from their cars, damaged communications, and some overflowing ravines could already be seen. Today, with a red warning in Valencia, Castellón, and Tarragona, the day will be one of heightened vigilance. We'll keep you updated here.
