Barcelona moves forward with the expropriation of the modernist Trias house in Park Güell

Barcelona moves forward with the expropriation of the modernist Trias house in Park Güell

Barcelona City Council takes another step forward in the process to expropriate the modernist Trias house located inside Park Güell, currently a private residence. The City Council's governing committee has approved the list of assets and rights of those affected who will need to be compensated for the expropriation of this building, one of the three private residences built at the beginning of the 20th century inside the park.

Municipal sources explained that this approval is the preliminary step to notifying the owners of the beginning of the expropriation process. Although future uses have not yet been defined, the City Council's goal is for the property to become part of the city's "heritage" upon completion of this operation, joining other public buildings within the complex, along with the Casa del Guarda and the Gaudí House Museum.

On the other hand, the municipal government has also given the green light to new steps to expropriate La Miranda, located on the perimeter of Park Güell, at 74 Avenida del Coll del Portell. This building houses an association, and the municipal plan is for it to continue its social and cultural activities with the entity that manages the space, but to be converted into a public facility, according to municipal sources.
