Bolaños maintains that the judicial reform "does not affect his independence" and focuses on the insults to Sánchez.

The Minister of the Presidency, Parliamentary Relations, and Justice, Félix Bolaños , has counterprogrammed this Saturday's protest by judges and prosecutors to defend the controversial judicial reform. "I invite you to read the draft; not a single line of the reform affects judicial independence. That's right-wing stuff," he noted, before expressing his "concern" over the shouts and insults heard at the protest outside the Supreme Court.

"In matters of justice, when reforms are implemented, there is always a reaction that over time proves to be unjustified," Bolaños continued. According to the minister, the purpose of the changes is to respond to its function as a "public service." "We need to transform justice into a 21st-century justice system. We are going to increase the ratio of judges and prosecutors to citizens," he added.

Specifically, access to the judiciary without going through the competitive examination process is one of the most controversial points of the legislative change. Bolaños has asserted that this "does not affect at all" the latest promotions. " We will be incorporating 2,500 judges . There has never been a time when so many judges and prosecutors have been incorporated. It's a historic demand," he explained.

All this while, outside the Supreme Court, hundreds of judges, prosecutors, and the associations organizing the strike on July 1, 2, and 3 were protesting . The manifesto, read by several spokespersons, states that the protest "is not against the executive branch, nor is it against the legislative branch: it is an act in support of the judiciary."

Regarding the changes to access to the judiciary, they point out that they "reduce the excellence of knowledge." They demand "the withdrawal of both bills. " "The existence of a strong and independent judiciary is not a right of judges , it is a guarantee for all."
