Brazil, guest of honour at the Marché du Film in Cannes 2025
Brazil will be the guest of honour at the 2025 Cannes Film Market , which stands out for being the largest international film market in the world, as well as a key meeting point for industry professionals.
Brazil is the favourite for Cannes 2025“This prestigious recognition will highlight Brazil’s dynamic audiovisual industry, its creative talents and its long-standing commitment to international collaboration,” said Marché du Film regarding the choice of Brazil as the country of honor during the 78th Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 13 to 24.

They later highlighted that the above coincides with the Brazil-France Season, “a cultural exchange initiative that celebrates the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations” between the European country and the South American country. During the meeting, the two nations will lead “a series of events that aim to strengthen their cultural, economic and academic ties.”
“Brazil's participation will extend to several of the key programs of the Marché du film and will include screenings of films and documentaries in progress, exclusive networking events and presentations of new international co-production initiatives,” they detailed in the document. They also mentioned that the program will be announced in detail in the coming months.
They also announced that the Latin American country will inaugurate the Marché du Film event with the celebration of the official opening at the emblematic Plages des Palmes, joint headquarters of the festival and the market. “This celebratory evening will immerse attendees in the spirit of Brazilian culture,” they said.
They also explained that Brazil will be represented by several institutions within the Festival Palace, which will serve as a center for networking, business meetings and industry gatherings. Furthermore, given the spotlight it will have within the panels and networking events, the American nation will have “important spaces for the promotion and development of business for the Brazilian audiovisual sector.”

For his part, the executive director of the Marché du Film , said that:
“We are delighted to welcome Brazil as our Country of Honour for the 2025 edition of the Marché du Film. It is a highly creative country with a vibrant film industry. We have seen a steady rise in the number of Brazilian professionals in Cannes over the past few years, with an increase of over 26% last year alone. With the added importance of the Brazil-France Season , this partnership is a symbol of the global strength of the Brazilian film industry and its strong relationship with Cannes.”
Brazil joins the list of countries such as Switzerland, Spain and India that have also been awarded the title of Country of Honor.
The Cannes Film Festival will take place on the French Riviera from May 13 to 24.
