Culiacán today February 24, 2025: Drug trafficking video surveillance cameras removed in 30 neighborhoods

In the municipality of Culiacán today, February 24, 2025 , authorities carried out the removal of various video surveillance cameras that had been placed by drug trafficking groups in 30 neighborhoods .
According to reports, the operation lasted four days, during which a total of 464 devices were located and removed .
It was also reported that the actions in which video surveillance cameras were uninstalled in 30 colonies were deployed because the devices were related to drug trafficking groups.

Following up on the operation that began on Thursday, February 20, in the city of Culiacán today, February 24, 2025, it was reported that hundreds of video surveillance cameras were dismantled.
Regarding the actions, the authorities reported that personnel from both the federal and state levels participated in the deployment, due to the support of the following agencies:
- Ministry of National Defense (Defense)
- National guard
- Navy Secretariat
- Attorney General's Office (FGR)
- State Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Sinaloa
- State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE)
Regarding the results of the operation that took place in 30 neighborhoods of the capital of Sinaloa, it was highlighted that a total of 464 cameras associated with criminal groups were removed .
In particular, the report states that during the 4 days in which the staff of the various departments toured Culiacán, they managed to locate and uninstall the following devices:
- Thursday, February 20: 64 cameras
- Friday, February 21: 82 cameras
- Saturday, February 22: 87 cameras
- Sunday, February 23: 72 cameras
It was also reported that another 159 cameras were seized during the deployment, although the exact day on which they were removed was not specified in the published information.
In the report issued on the removal of the 464 video surveillance cameras in Culiacán today, February 24, 2025 , the authorities explained the reasons why they were dismantled .
Regarding this, it was detailed that it has been well identified that the devices in question were placed in different points of the 30 colonies, by organizations dedicated to drug trafficking .
The SSPE of Sinaloa added that these types of video surveillance cameras are placed illegally in public structures, such as poles , which is an act that violates the law.
He also said that in many cases, these devices are used by organized crime groups to monitor the actions of the authorities , which makes operations difficult.
The state agency has therefore warned that all unofficial devices in public structures will be removed and has asked citizens to anonymously report any suspicious installations.
