Evenepoel signs for Red Bull for 2026

What was an open secret is now a reality: Remco Evenepoel will ride for Red Bull-BORA starting in 2026. The rider, who has been with Soudal Quick-Step since 2019, had a contract until the end of next year, but after failing to reach an agreement in negotiations, it will be terminated at the end of the current season.
“Remco representatives have informed team management that they do not wish to negotiate an extension to their current contract, which expires at the end of 2026. Following consultation with our sponsors and partners, team management and owners have decided, in the best interests of all, to agree to Remco’s departure at the end of the current 2025 season. While we regret Remco’s decision to leave, we will continue to share the memories we have created and continue to work together to achieve significant results for the remainder of the season,” Soudal said in the official statement.
He also took the opportunity to take a dig at his former cyclist: "We firmly believe in the team spirit that earned us the nickname 'Wolf Pack' and we will continue to strive to be a team stronger than any individual."
The double Olympic champion and the Belgian team part ways after six seasons, during which Evenepoel has amassed 64 victories, including the world road championship, two world time trial championships, two Liège-Bastogne-Liège races, one Vuelta a España, as well as five stage wins, two Tour de France stages, with a podium finish in the overall standings last year, and two Olympic gold medals at the Paris Games, with victories in both the road race and the time trial.
"He brings not only exceptional athletic talent, but also an exceptional mentality. His determination, professionalism, and tireless drive to excel are truly inspiring. Remco is synonymous with ambition. He wants to transform cycling," said Ralph Denk, CEO of Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe.
The 2022 Vélo d'Or winner will ride alongside Primoz Roglic, who will take on the role of leader, and Florian Lipowitz, who is fresh off third place in the Dauphiné and the Tour de France.
