Fire at rehabilitation center in Tlalpan leaves 8 detained: What were the causes of the fire?

Following the fire at an addiction rehabilitation center in Topilejo, Tlalpan , which left five people dead and six others injured , the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City announced the cause of the fire, in addition to confirming eight arrests.
According to the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection of Mexico City, the fatal victims of the fire , as well as those poisoned, are men between 25 and 29 years old , who were part of the addiction rehabilitation services at the clinic.
The fire was caused by the burning of mattresses in the patients' bedrooms, according to the capital authorities. According to the SSC, the fire spread to electrical appliances, clothing and other furniture , which made the fire intensify and thus the victims more vulnerable to the smoke that poisoned them.
The six survivors of the fire were taken to the nearest hospitals, where they are receiving medical attention . It is not known if they are out of danger or what their health status is.
The eight people arrested, allegedly responsible for burning mattresses at the addiction rehabilitation center, have already been presented before the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office to begin investigations.
It should be noted that the people arrested are workers at the addiction clinic , which is a private center and has been suspended following the fire on Monday.
"They are at the Tlalpan 5 Center of the Public Prosecutor's Office to make statements and they are staff in charge of the Addiction Center. The Prosecutor's Office must open the corresponding file and disclose the reasons why the survey was initiated," said Myriam Urzúa, head of Civil Protection of Mexico City.
Through an operation by the SSC, a group of people were arrested for purchasing products in convenience stores with counterfeit bills in Tlalpan stores .
The people arrested are two women and one man, who operated in the Benito Juárez municipality. In addition to their alleged involvement in the use of counterfeit bills , they were arrested with 220 doses of drugs, as well as counterfeit bills.
This group of people is accused of making a purchase with counterfeit bills in the Jardines de la Montaña neighborhood, in the Tlalpan municipality, on January 1, in a store located on the Picacho Ajusco highway .
According to investigations, the counterfeit banknotes used by this group lack the security locks that the originals have.
Investigations against this criminal group grew after another purchase with counterfeit bills was reported on February 11 at a store in the San Gonzalo neighborhood, in Santa Úrsula, Tlalpan. The transaction was reportedly for 10 thousand pesos.
