Fires in Saltillo increase 125% in 2025; up to 21 reports attended to per day

Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz reported that 21 reports of fires were attended to in the municipality on Tuesday. According to Díaz , measures are being implemented to prevent and combat fires, and work is being done in coordination with the state and federal governments to address the problem.

"We are going to have a town hall session in the coming days and that is where we are going to present proposals for administrative sanctions," he said.
The mayor also stressed the importance of prevention and technology to fight fires. “ We are going to continue investing in technology, not only in cameras, but also in drones with thermal cameras that allow us to identify the people who commit incidents,” he said.
Regarding the causes of the fires, Díaz mentioned that many of them are caused by the burning of garbage or weeds. “ Some of them are also caused, especially structural fires in some houses, in some places, because it is due to some accident that occurs there, but in some properties there are people who try to burn garbage there, it gets out of control and the show begins ,” he said.
People who intentionally start fires are often under the influence of substances, according to the mayor of Saltillo , Javier Díaz. “Most of them are on drugs, it is easy for them to try to do something for fun or entertainment, they think they can control it, but it gets out of control and they run away,” said Díaz .
Finally, Díaz stressed the importance of coordination between authorities and citizens to address the problem of fires. “ We will continue to work together to protect our city and prevent fires ,” he concluded.
