Judicial Branch Election 2025: What does it take to be an electoral observer?

The National Electoral Institute (INE) has called on citizens to participate as electoral observers in the Extraordinary Electoral Process for the election of various positions in the Judicial Branch of the Federation 2024-2025.
Electoral observers are persons authorized by the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures, whose objective is to learn about the preparation and development of the electoral process, including Election Day on June 1.

This process has a particular importance due to the absence of partisan representations, so the figure of Observers will be essential to make institutional work transparent and contribute to the legitimacy of the electoral process.
What are the requirements to participate?To be an electoral observer, the following requirements must be met:
- Have Mexican citizenship in full enjoyment of civil and political rights.
- Not having been a member of political party leadership in the three years prior to the election.
- Not having been a candidate for an elected position in the same period.
- Not being a public servant linked to social programs at different levels of government.
- Avoid any links with political parties or the operation of government social programs.

Interested parties must provide personal data and a copy of their voting card.
The deadline to register is May 7, 2025 , so it is advisable to complete the procedure in advance to ensure that the registration is validated.
Although the deadline to obtain or update the INE credential is March 31, 2025, citizens who register as observers They do not need to have a valid credential at the time of registration , since the registration process takes place before that date.
