Mazón defends himself as he defends the Valencians

Text in which the author advocates ideas and draws conclusions based on his or her interpretation of facts and data.

There are few riskier sports than not resigning after insisting on deserving it. In the following months, one loses one's centre of gravity and, therefore, has more difficulty in maintaining one's balance. One is left to oneself, with the point of cruelty that politics always has, and one is exposed to making more mistakes. Observe Carlos Mazón at the Ritz in Madrid, New Economy forum, his dark appearance in a luxurious setting months after the Dana: neither Feijóo nor Ayuso, the sheriffs of the PP in the capital, were with him. In Valencia he flees public events so as not to be booed ; in Madrid, where he goes to be loved, those who could applaud him flee from him.
It is thus understood that this Monday, in a ruthless drift, Mazón decided for the first time to show his list of calls from the afternoon of October 29, specifically from 5:37 p.m. , with the Cecopi already in session and two and a half hours after the Generalitat requested the first intervention of the UME. That is, as if before, that noon, that morning or the day before, there was not already an alert and even his own officials suspending events or the university itself suspending its classes. It is not known, looking at these calls in detail, if they were exposed by a defense attorney, as intended, or a prosecutor. A call appears to a mayor, from a town, Cullera, who is not even from the zero zone of the dana, and he says that in that call he asked about the rains, but in Cullera it did not rain. And it is known, now, that at 7:43 p.m. he was not yet in the Cecopi because one of the calls he showed was to the Emergency Minister who was there . Until now it was believed that she had arrived late, a lot, around 7:30 p.m.: well, no, unless she called her with her at her side, which could also be the case: there are people who do anything to avoid looking at each other's faces.
However, perhaps the worst thing is not the disconcerting movement to defend Mazón, but the populist mockery of moving 400 kilometres away from Valencia to say that there he does not spend a second defending himself, but the Valencians. Where they ask him for explanations, in the Parliament, he does not give them; where they are not asked, in the Ritz, he goes to give them. And he gives them with so much detail that, obviously, they are detrimental to him. That he defends the Valencians with the same determination and luck with which he defends himself was already clear on the day of the events. That the Valencians must be defended from him is known even by his own party, which has abandoned him with the usual patina of unprincipled desolation that prevails over those who let down or abandon them to their fate. That, in short, there are better ways to end a political career than prolonging, not to mention on tour, the memory of his management in the dana, he must also know this by now.
