Saltillo seeks to stop illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco on social networks

Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz announced that the municipality will work together with the state government to coordinate actions against the clandestine sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco through Facebook and WhatsApp groups.

Díaz referred to this problem and pointed out that these groups operate illegally and without permits. “ We are going to work closely to address this situation ,” he said. “If they do not have an alcohol license and are selling alcoholic beverages, they are breaking the law, and we will apply other types of actions.”
The mayor mentioned that different options are being evaluated to address this problem, including the implementation of administrative and criminal sanctions for those who break the law. The possibility of regulating digital platforms to prevent the illegal sale of these products is also being analyzed.
Regarding security, Díaz stressed the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the city. To this end, proximity and prevention operations have been implemented to deal with crime. He also referred to the increase in fires in the city and assured that measures are being taken to address this problem.
"The priority is to maintain peace, tranquility, security and the integrity of our families in Saltillo," the mayor emphasized.
He also highlighted the fundamental role of citizens in reporting these clandestine groups and in collaborating with the authorities to stop this illicit activity. “Citizen participation is key; when these cases are reported, the C2 reviews the security cameras in the area to identify those responsible and track their movements,” he explained.
Regarding the results obtained, the mayor reported that in recent days important arrests have been made and the number of fires in the city has been reduced. However, he stressed that it is necessary to continue working together with citizens and authorities to effectively address this problem.
