Saltillo: will generate 21K Coahuila occupation of 1,500 hotel rooms

For the hotel sector, an economic spillover of up to 2 million pesos is expected
The 21K Coahuila Race will generate hotel occupancy of between 1,000 and 1,500 rooms, as well as income for this sector that could range from 1.5 to 2 million pesos, said the director of the Saltillo Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV), Raúl Rodarte Leos.
The race will take place on June 8 and, according to the details presented on Tuesday, is expected to attract seven thousand runners (one thousand more than last year) as well as between 100 and 120 elite runners.

Regarding this competition, the director of the OCV Saltillo said that it is one of the most important events in the city and the State, and that it is also very well positioned. Each athlete who participates travels with at least 2 or 3 companions.
Although in his case, he contemplated the participation of up to 6 thousand athletes, adding their companions, there would be up to 10 thousand or 12 thousand people in the city, 25 percent of them considered that they are foreigners and their average stay in the city is from 1.5 to two nights.
The expectation is that they will occupy 1,000 to 1,500 rooms and with that, a generation exclusively in terms of accommodation of 1.5 to 2 million pesos, since it is a very well-positioned event with a high demand in hotels.
“In every edition, in the last 10 years, that weekend the Saltillo square wakes up full ,” he said.

In the case of foreign participants who come to the race, he commented that they are mainly from Monterrey, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro and Mexico City.
“The 21K, due to the characteristic of being a half marathon (21 kilometers) and the geographical conditions of Saltillo with its ups and downs, being at an altitude above 1,500 meters above sea level, all of this helps athletes measure how they are physically prepared for other half marathons or a marathon and that is why Saltillo has been a reference, in addition to being a very well-positioned event,” he said.
