Sana joins a mobile collection campaign

Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada supervised the installation of new containers donated by the company Sana to join the Itinerant Special Solid Waste collection campaign, according to a bulletin.
“This speaks of the social co-responsibility and commitment that we all have with our city to see it more organized, cleaner. This is how great cities are built, with actions that involve the government, businesses and citizens,” said the mayor.
Two of the four donated containers , with a capacity of 30 cubic meters, will be on the tennis court and in the Los Héroes park from February 25 to March 12 , joining six other “Mérida Clean Points” installed in the Wallis, Esperanza, Mayapán, Amalia Solórzano subdivisions and two in Nora Quintana.
The mayor said that the municipal concessionaire company will also participate in the transport of waste for final disposal, a coordinated and team effort to protect the city's environment.
“We invite everyone to use these containers and to deposit the correct waste. Our goal is for this practice to become a habit among citizens as a fundamental mechanism to promote a clean Mérida, because the city is ours and we all have to take care of it,” invited Cecilia Patrón.
"We ask citizens to use these points correctly for the disposal of objects such as mattresses, furniture, refrigerators and other special waste," he said.
Jorge Alberto López y López, CEO of Sana , highlighted the importance of taking an active role in finding solutions for the correct management of solid waste.
“With the delivery of these containers we are taking a firm step towards a cleaner and more sustainable Mérida, by promoting the culture of recycling and responsibility that we must cultivate for the preservation of our natural resources,” he added.
The Mérida City Council currently has eight additional four-ton containers in neighborhoods around the city, where more than 25 tons have been collected so far.
The activity was attended by local deputy Sayda Rodríguez Méndez; the general coordinator of Orderly Development and City Management, Carlos Viñas Heredia, the directors Alberto Espinosa Atoche, of Public Services; Arturo León Itzá, of Social Development and Fight against Poverty; Sergio Chan Lugo, of Public Works, and Raúl Arceo Alonzo, Technical Secretary of Comprehensive Waste Management .
