Statues of Che and Fidel will replace the effigy of Florinda Meza in Zacatecas.

Zacatecas Tabacalera.- The statues of "Che" Guevara and Fidel Castro could be relocated in Juchipila, Zacatecas, replacing the controversial effigy of Florinda Meza.

With the recent complaints from residents of the Zacatecas municipality about the sculpture of "Doña Florinda," a historic opportunity has opened for the recently deposed figures of Che and Fidel—removed from the Cuauhtémoc municipality—to be recycled and relocated with Jarocho honors.

The statue of Florinda Meza will now wear a beret.

The proposal gains momentum after a wave of memes and petitions on social media demanding the removal of the figure of "La Chimoltrufia," accusing her of having systematically and mercilessly slapped poor Don Ramón for years in the Chespiritesque universe.

“ Well, the arena is here, and now that we remove the old flip-flop, there will be space left,” explained the mayor of Juchipila, while asking if anyone knew the diameter of Castro's head, so that it would fit into the base without needing an extra chisel.

Although the official date for the removal of Meza's statue has not been announced, the City Council has reportedly contacted Bart Simpson to remove it overnight to avoid inconveniencing the seven fans Doña Florinda maintains throughout Mexico.

“ If you want, send us the Christopher Columbus one right away, so this will look like a Beatles cover,” added a local mayor, visibly moved by the idea of sitting next to Fidel and having a cigar while La Vecindad del Amor plays in the background.

For now, local artisans are already working on casting hammer and sickle flip-flops to commemorate this historic transition.
