Three people implicated in the murder of Fernandito in Mexico City have been remanded in custody.

A judge in the State of Mexico (Edomex) ordered pretrial detention for those accused of the disappearance and murder of Fernandito "N," a five-year-old boy who died at a home in the Ejidal El Pino neighborhood, in the municipality of Los Reyes, La Paz. He was deprived of his liberty because his mother owed them money.
They are Carlos "N", Ana Lilia "N", and Lilia "N" , alleged moneylenders who went to the minor's mother's house on July 28 to collect the debt of one thousand pesos; but when they didn't receive payment, they kidnapped the minor as "guarantee of payment."

Although the mother tried to see him multiple times at the home where he was kidnapped, it was not until August 4 that she filed the complaint, involving the Edomex Investigative Police, part of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) in conjunction with elements of the Navy and the La Paz Municipal Police ; however, the minor was found dead inside the home of those involved , with signs of attempted concealment.
On the same day of the kidnapping, the mother went to the municipal DIF and the prosecutor's offices in La Paz and Nezahualcóyotl , but because she had difficulty speaking, she was ignored.
The forensic report on the five-year-old boy determined that he died from severe head trauma and that he had been dead for at least four days. It is presumed that he was murdered shortly after being deprived of his liberty.
