Tribute to Lady Six Monkey in Magdalena Candayoc

The Añuti Community Museum (Seis Mono) , located in Magdalena Candayoc, in the Mixteca region, paid tribute to exalt and make visible the legacy of La Señora Seis Mono, a deity recognized by the president, Claudia Sheinbaum, in the Year of the Indigenous Woman 2025.
Manuel Miguel Robles, historian and director of the site founded in 2004, explained that Ñuñu was a warrior woman who did not hesitate to defend her people against the lordship of 8 Venado, so she is an example and a display of strength, bravery and wisdom.
In the tribute, Miguel Robles explained that the deity wears a headdress from the Mixtec culture and a simple pendant in the style of this region of Oaxaca. Nuñu was a Mixtec ruler of Añuti or the lordship of Jaltepec, who lived from 1073 to 1101. This warrior was the last daughter of Lady 9 Wind and Lord 10 Eagle.
Her brothers were sacrificed as victims of the war and she was left as the sole heir to the lordship of Jaltepec," said the expert.
When she married the king of Tilantongo, Ñuñu began a war campaign to defend her territory against the powerful Lord 8 Deer, jaguar claw, who sought to expand his dominion, which is proof that women have also taken up arms to defend their people and confront the powers of their time," said Miguel Robles.
The cultural event, accompanied by the Magdalena Jaltepec City Council, consisted of a ritual ceremony on the Mogote hill, the placement of an offering on the tomb of Lady Seis Mono, as well as the conference Seis Mono, Power of the Snake, the Woman Who Transcended Time, given by the museum director and Patricio Abraham Garzón, cultural ambassador.
Likewise, students from the Francisco Villa General Secondary School staged the play Seis Mono, Princess who changed the course of a manor.
