Ukraine reaches agreement with the United States to share natural resources

Ukraine has reached an agreement with the US to allocate 50% of the profits from the exploitation of its untapped natural resources to a joint investment fund over which the US side will have greater decision-making power and which will be used to make investments in the Ukrainian economy.

This was confirmed by sources in the Ukrainian presidential office to the Kyiv Independent.

On the other hand, kyiv has not managed to obtain a written commitment from the US to continue providing military support to Ukraine in exchange for the economic benefits provided for in the agreement.

One of the clauses of the final agreement prohibits the transfer of money from the fund to third parties without the agreement of both holder countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will travel to Washington to sign the agreement in the coming days, US President Donald Trump said on Monday.

Trump had demanded that kyiv make such a commitment in order to collect the money allocated by the US to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.
