What the series left us: Chespirito was a Chivas fan and they made him switch to América

Empty Nest.- Sin Querer Queriendo , the supposedly biographical series about Chespirito, has just ended. It focused less on explaining how El Chavo del 8 was born and more on giving us a tasty love triangle drama between Roberto Gómez Bolaños, his wife Graciela and the old chancluda, aka “Margarita.”

During the episodes, we were kept attentive not so much to learn details about the creation of El Chapulín Colorado , but to see how the situation of good old Roberto and his famous “7 big defects” escalated (spoiler: not all of them were creative).

I already saw the end of #Chespirito #SinQuererQueriendo on @StreamMaxLA , and I can say that the best episode is the seventh, and the best scene is of my Paulina Dávila crying while Paola Montes de Oca hugs her and “Frente a Frente” by Jeanette is playing. pic.twitter.com/XydcNJYVUf

Many things have come to light in the Chespirito series.

Anyway, the point is that the final episode of the first (and final?) season addresses the production of the film El Chanfle , in which Chespirito plays a frustrated water carrier whose ultimate dream is to play for Club América. A plot so controversial that it achieved the unthinkable: uniting Cruz Azul and Chivas fans… in their rejection.

In a key scene, Gómez Bolaños is shown entering with the then owner of Televisa to propose a film based on "El Chavo," but the executive responds something like:

"I have something better. I'll give you stadiums, locker rooms, cameras, cameras in the locker rooms, and most importantly: the best team in Mexico."

“I want to make a movie called El Chanfle, I want a team and a stadium.”

Okay, use America and the Azteca stadium.

To which Chespirito, with all the innocence of a neighborhood boy, replies: “No, the best team in Mexico is Chivas.”

The businessman then flies into a rage, launches a list of insults and threats, and rejects the idea of making a film starring a red-and-white player, despite the fact that the name El Chanfle was chosen precisely because it begins with “CH,” just like Chivas . Coincidence… I don't believe it.

This scene made it clearer than ever that Chespirito was a supporter of the Sacred Flock, but that he had to side with Ame because, well... contracts, budgets, and Televisa.

– Chespirito: El Chanfle works for the best soccer team in Mexico🇲🇽…

– Azcárraga: Count on América for whatever you need.

We (like many others) believe the film should have featured a fictional team, meaning neither Chivas nor the Águilas, which would have had a greater impact due to the universality of the story. I mean, no one asked us, but... penalty for América!

And to keep up to date: the band Oasis mocked Coldplay for showing people off.
