A flood of brands seeking a market in Colombia: who's who in the automotive sector?

More than 100 automobile brands, including SUVs, pickup trucks, commercial vehicles, buses, and trucks, are registered in Colombia , according to the sector sales report published by Fenalco and Andi, as of the first seven months of 2025. This report shows 128,876 sales during that period.
Many, however, appear with one or two pieces sold, or at least registered, because – even if they are duly approved – they are here undergoing testing before being marketed.

This universe of low-selling vehicles also includes "gray" brands or models, which arrive through direct imports without representing their parent companies, such as Tesla and Lexus, or which depend on demand from very exclusive niche customers. Such as Ferrari, which reacts according to monthly or annual orders.
In contrast, powerful international and local importers operate in Colombia, selling one or more traditional brands. They are particularly looking to China. From there, they import vehicles that often surpass established brands in quality and performance, especially hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs).
Looking beyond the brands at MOTOR's price lists, the variants of each model easily make up an offering of more than 600 references among which the 220,000 customers expected to purchase a new vehicle this year will be distributed .
