Apordom announces the return of the Island Princess cruise ship to Puerto Plata

Apordom announces the return of the Island Princess cruise ship to Puerto Plata

After 15 years without calling at a Dominican port, the Princess Cruises cruise ship Island Princess will return. In making the announcement, the Dominican Port Authority ( Apordom ) stated today that this upcoming arrival is significant and represents "the country's continued progress in receiving ships at its various cruise terminals."

The Island Princess ship will arrive on July 8 of this year at the Amber Cove terminal in Puerto Plata, as part of the itinerary of ships that will arrive through the various ports and cruise anchorages in the country.

Apordom Executive Director Jean Luis Rodriguez described it as very important that the Island Princess cruise ship chose to return to the Dominican Republic, after its last visit in 2010.

"It's a sign of regaining trust , thanks to the best practices developed in each of our port terminals, which are advancing and modernizing every day to provide better services to each and every visitor who arrives through our ports," he said in a press release.

He praised the fact that cruise companies are increasingly including the country in their itineraries , contributing to the increase in visitor arrivals at the various ports.

Apordom highlighted the arrival of cruise ships for July, a month in which 26 vessels will dock, with the Amber Cove terminal receiving the most cruise ships with 13, followed by Taino Bay with 10, Cabo Rojo with two, and La Romana, Muelle Este with one.

  • Apordom noted that, in accordance with the cruise passenger arrival projection schedule, dates may change as established, should weather conditions arise, which would lead to modifications to the routes determined by the cruise lines.
