Abinader attributes economic growth to prayer

President Luis Abinader participated this Friday in the XI National Prayer Breakfast, an event organized by the Dominican Prayer Army, where he shared a message about the importance of faith , prayer and the unity of the Dominican people.
The head of state called on the Dominican Prayer Army to remain active 24/7 praying for the well-being of the country. In this regard, he highlighted the transformative power of faith in difficult times, such as during the coronavirus pandemic.
"I remember when they told us that economic recovery would take years. I told them, 'We're going to recover quickly because we're praying.' And that's how it happened," he recounted.
President Abinader also mentioned how prayer has had an impact even in critical weather situations. "When we saw that a cyclone had a 90% chance of passing through the center of the island, I just said: 'Let's pray.' And it worked."
During the event held at the Embajador Hotel, the president called for national unity , urging both the government and the opposition to remain united in faith .
"We are one country, one people, and one people who believe in God . I ask you to continue praying for the good of the nation, of every family , and of all Dominicans."
A believing familyThe president emphasized how prayer has been a constant source of strength for him, his family , and his administration. "I communicate with God daily, and so do the five of us at home: Raquel, our three daughters—now adults—and me. We are a family of believers ," he stated.
During breakfast, messages of faith , hope and reconciliation were offered, along with songs of praise and prayers for the nation, its authorities and the well-being of the Dominican people.
Present at the event were Milcíades Franjul, the liaison of the Evangelical Churches to the Executive Branch and coordinator of the Family Cabinet; Omar Fernández, the senators of the National District; Gustavo Lara Salazar, the mayor of San Cristóbal; Francisco Peña, the mayors of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio, and Santo Domingo Oeste; Ezequiel Molina, the president of Batalla de La Fe; and Pastor Feliciano Lancen, the president of the Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (Codue).
Also participating were Lorenzo Mota King, executive director of the Dominican Church Social Service (SSID); Pedro Choi, president of the Dominican Prayer Army; pastors Julio Morales; Rafael Acevedo; Miguel Ángel Cancún; and pastors Cruz Neris and Orpha Luna.
