Disapproval of President Gustavo Petro is 63%, according to Invamer survey

The disapproval rating of President Gustavo Petro, in February 2025, stands at 63 percent , while the approval rating is at 32 percent. This was revealed by the Invamer survey, released on Wednesday, February 26.
The capital city where the head of state has the highest disapproval rating is Bucaramanga with 80 percent. And the one where the president's performance is most approved is Cali with 44 percent.

The survey, which was conducted with 1,600 people in the seven main cities of the country, also asked some about their approval ratings of mayors and governors.
Mayors Dumek Turbay (Cartagena) and Hugo Kerguelén (Montería) have the highest approval ratings in February of this year: both have 77 percent. Disapproval ratings are 21 and 14 percent, respectively.

They are followed by Federico Gutiérrez (Medellín) and Alejandro Char (Barranquilla) with 69 and 68 percent approval, respectively. The disapproval rating for both was 28 percent.
In the cases of Carlos Fernando Galán (Bogotá) and Alejandro Eder (Cali) the disapproval rate was higher: it was 47 percent in both cases, and 44 and 38 percent approval.
As for the governors, Yamil Arana (Bolívar), Erasmo Zuleta (Córdoba) and Andrés Julián Rendón (Antioquia) obtained 76, 68 and 61 percent approval, in that order.

For their part, Juvenal Díaz (Santander) and Dilian Francisca Toro (Valle del Cauca) obtained 47 and 40 percent approval and 44 and 37 percent disapproval.
The governor with the highest percentage of disapproval was Eduardo Verano (Atlántico) with 49 percent. His approval rating was 40.

Men and women aged 18 or older, from all socioeconomic levels, living in urban areas: Bogotá (5,479,011), Medellín (1,813,155), Cali (1,374,126), Barranquilla (810,019), Cartagena (558,909) Bucaramanga (390,351) and Montería (245,973) for a total of 10,671,544 people, according to the latest Census published in Colombia by DANE.
Mapping of cities to select people. The coverage of the mapping in the 7 major cities is 95%. The number of blocks in the mapping are: Bogotá 39,103, Medellín 13,329, Cali 13,707, Barranquilla 7,783, Bucaramanga 4,716, Cartagena 7,511 and Montería 3,858 for a total of 90,007.
Sample size and distribution
1,600 personal surveys distributed as follows: Bogotá 400 surveys, Medellín 200 surveys, Cali 200 surveys, Barranquilla 200 surveys, Bucaramanga 200 surveys, Cartagena 200 surveys and Montería 200 surveys. To adjust the total sample to the actual size of the universe of each city, weighting factors are applied.
A probability sampling was carried out in stages, first a systematic random selection of households was carried out and then a simple random selection of a person aged 18 years or older.
The margins of error within 95% confidence limits are: for the total sample of the 6 cities +/- 2.62%; for the total sample of Bogotá +/- 4.90%; for the total samples of Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena and Bucaramanga +/- 6.93%;

The weighting factor was calculated by dividing the percentage of the universe of the variables age range and socioeconomic level by the percentage of the sample for the same variables. The weighting factor indicates the number of sample units that each respondent represents in order to be proportional or representative of the universe.
The universe used in this weighting factor was taken from the results of the last Census published in Colombia by DANE.
