Junts opens the door to voting against the cancellation of the Generalitat's debt

Junts has rejected this afternoon the measures established by the Government for the forgiveness of the debt of the Generalitat. The president of Esquerra Republicana, Oriol Junqueras, announced yesterday that his party had reached an agreement with the Government to forgive 20% of the total debt of the Generalitat - 22.2% with respect to the Autonomous Liquidity Fund (FLA) -. This is one of the agreements for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez that will be discussed tomorrow in the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council (CPFF).
The Government, for its part, offered to forgive 83.252 billion euros to the autonomous communities. A gesture that, for the spokesperson of Junts in Congress, Mònica Sales, is a return to “coffee for everyone” and accused the central Executive of “taking the piss out of it”.
For Junts, the only proposal that should be approved in Congress is the initiative included in the conclusions on historical debt, which reflects a debt of 73 billion euros that should be forgiven in its entirety.
According to Sales, Catalans will have to pay more again and the agreement signed with ERC does not take into account the financing deficit that Catalonia is suffering from.
Without revealing how he will vote in Congress, he said that when the debt forgiveness is approved, this will be an issue that will have to be debated in the executive, without hiding the fact that he is not satisfied with the agreement reached by Esquerra.
