Mexico City distributes cards for supplies and uniforms with an investment of $1.275 billion.

The Mexico City government has begun distributing 1.25 million cards for the purchase of school supplies and uniforms for public primary and secondary school students. The total investment is 1.275 billion pesos for the 2025-2026 school year.
The kickoff took place at the GNP stadium in Magdalena Mixiuhca, where 20,000 cards were handed out. From early on, long lines and complaints from parents about the lack of organization marked the day. Some attendees complained to the staff, while others asked for faster entry.
Mayor Clara Brugada announced that another 347,000 cards will be distributed directly to schools this week. The aid will be provided without discrimination to ensure that all students have basic supplies for the return to school.
Brugada emphasized that the investment in supplies and uniforms is in addition to the 11 billion pesos that will be allocated this year to educational programs. These include "My Scholarship to Start," the "1, 2, 3 for My School" program to improve infrastructure, and "Digital Classrooms" to provide computers to schools.
Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado announced that the Rita Cetina Scholarship, for incoming high school students, will open on September 15.
