Santos Cerdán will not resign from his seat in Congress this Friday.

Santos Cerdán will not resign from his seat in Congress this Friday.

Although the PSOE expected the resignation to be formalized throughout the day, the Congress registry closed at 6 p.m., and the document had not yet arrived.

Santos Cerdán , dismissed as PSOE Organization Secretary after appearing in a report by the Civil Guard's Central Operational Unit (UCO) as a member of Koldo García's alleged commission scheme, remained a member of the Socialist Group in Congress this Friday , one day after his resignation was announced. The Congress registry closed at 6:00 p.m. and his resignation letter was not on record.

This Thursday at noon, after the UCO report was published, Santos Cerdán announced his resignation from all positions , including his position on the PSOE Executive Committee and his seat in Congress. And in the afternoon press conference held by Pedro Sánchez, the president said he had asked his former Secretary of Organization to resign. "We shouldn't have trusted him," he admitted while apologizing.

But as of eleven o'clock this Friday morning, Santos Cerdán was still listed on the official Congress website as an active member of the Socialist Group, and there is still no record of receipt of the resignation letter , which in these cases is usually automatic.

Although the PSOE expected the resignation to be formalized throughout the day, the Congressional registry closed at 6:00 p.m., and the document had not yet arrived. According to parliamentary sources, once this document arrives , his resignation will be automatic, as it is an administrative procedure and there is no need to wait for the Congressional Bureau meeting scheduled for next Tuesday.
