The Sweeper Case: Sheinbaum responds to Ramiro López Obrador's remarks

In Tabasco, the recent arrest of Hernán Bermúdez Requena, suspected of being the leader of the criminal organization "La Barredora," has sparked an intense political and social debate.
During a tour by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Secretary of Government of Tabasco, José Ramiro López Obrador, urged caution regarding the judicial process and reminded everyone that, beyond the accusations, "we must also listen to those who are accused."
Bermúdez's capture marked a significant turning point in the state's security strategy, as he is linked to episodes of violence in Tabasco. The news generated widespread media coverage and raised questions about the role of various political figures in the state.
At the end of his presidential visit to Villahermosa, Ramiro López Obrador stated that the important thing is to allow the competent authorities to carry out their work, emphasizing that justice must be administered with prudence. He recalled a popular saying from his homeland: "When have you ever seen a sack of money in jail?" to illustrate that there are now signs of change in the administration of justice.
When questioned about the statements made by the former president's brother, Sheinbaum firmly responded that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General's Office and the judicial authorities, not the Executive Branch. "The important thing is that he's detained; almost no one mentions that... not even the commentators, not even those who speak on the news," the president emphasized.
Another name that came up in the conversations was Senator Adán Augusto López Hernández, former governor of Tabasco. In this regard, Sheinbaum recalled that the legislator had already expressed his willingness to testify if the prosecutor's office summons him: "I have no problem," he said at the time.
The combination of high-profile arrests and the cautious stance of political actors reflects a scenario where citizens demand transparency and results. Meanwhile, the judicial process continues, and authorities are keeping their investigations confidential, an issue that remains a focus of national attention.
