Defense Minister announces that planes fired on "hostile objects"
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that aircraft fired at "hostile objects" after "violations" of Polish airspace during a Russian attack on western Ukraine.
"The planes used their weapons against hostile objects. We are in constant contact with NATO command," the minister said in a message on X, which referred to "downed drones."
"An operation to neutralize the objects that violated its airspace is underway," warns the Polish Deputy Minister of Defense.
"Over Poland, an operation is underway to neutralize objects that have violated and crossed the border of the Republic of Poland," Cezary Tomczyk, Polish Deputy Minister of Defense, published on X.
"All services are mobilized. We ask you to follow the announcements of the Polish army and police," he recommended, before specifying that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was on site.

The Polish military on Wednesday denounced repeated violations of its airspace during a Russian attack on western Ukraine.
"During today's attack by the Russian Federation against targets located on Ukrainian territory, our airspace was repeatedly violated by drones," the Polish army command center said in a message on X.

Poland says military operation 'underway', urges people to stay home
The Polish army said a military operation was "ongoing." It also urged people to stay at home, according to Reuters news agency.
"An operation to neutralize objects that violated and crossed the Polish border is underway over Poland," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the deputy prime minister of Poland, on X. "The president and the prime minister have been informed. All services are mobilized. Please follow the instructions of the Polish army and the police," he added.
Polish Armed Forces have initiated "all necessary procedures"
"In order to ensure the security of Polish airspace , the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has initiated all necessary procedures," the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said in a message published on X.
"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached their maximum readiness level. These measures are preventive in nature and aimed at securing the airspace and protecting citizens, particularly in areas adjacent to the threatened zone."
