To go beyond the clichés and aim right, Planet consulted several studies and spoke with mothers to find the perfect gift . As you'll see, it's not enough to break your budget or search far and wide to please.

Flowers: Your Favorite Gift for Your Mom?

Every year, 48% of French people give flowers for Mother's Day, confirms BFMTV . The budget allocated to this bouquet is on average 43 euros. For Isabelle, 59, mother of two children, flowers are seen as a sign of eternal love : "I'm a big fan of flowers, it's my great passion, my hobby, so being able to have a different bouquet every year is a real joy for me. Flowers are colors, they are sweet smells and a set of positive energies." For Marie, 64, mother of three children, flowers allow their children, often modest in the expression of their feelings, to share their love : "In my family, we have always been shy when it comes to saying I love you. I'm reaching an age where I need to be told, in one way or another, and the bouquet of flowers is ideal for expressing it," she tells us.

These tips for caring for cut flowers

For Mother's Day, several seasonal flowers are recommended: roses (usually red for mom), but also peonies. Another, lesser-known variety can also enrich and brighten your bouquets: the viburnum. Usually pink or white in color, they form balls that bloom right now. A way to add a touch of elegant softness. Once you've purchased your bouquet, here are a few tips.

Half-fill your vase and cut the stems at an angle to promote absorption. Lightly mist the leaves without wetting the flowers and regularly remove wilted ones. Change the water every day or every other day (especially for roses), confirms Interflora . According to a study shared by RMC , other products that draw their references at the time of Mother's Day: jewelry, with 35% of purchase intentions, followed by ready-to-wear (28%) and beauty products and perfumes (27%). Among the most popular products among the mothers we surveyed, we find: earrings, perfumes, hand creams: "These are useful gifts, that we are sure to use" confirms Martine, 70 years old, mother of five children.

Coming to see your mom: the best Mother’s Day gift?

Planet noted a common trend expressed by the three mothers interviewed: that of spending this special day surrounded by their children, with or without a gift : "The best gift for me is simply having my children by my side that day. Nothing replaces their presence," says Isabelle. "Flowers fade, jewelry is put away... but a shared moment remains etched in my heart," confides Martine, who sees her children "once or twice a month."

One last piece of advice: if you're not convinced about buying a bouquet of flowers, think about a gift that really suits her and not what's "generally done."
