India: Known for having the most beautiful hair in the world, Indian women's hair is worth gold.

“Hello! Do you have any hair to sell? I’ll buy it for 200 rupees for 100 grams.” Ever since she was old enough to work, Santi has been a hair collector. Every day, she goes door to door in small villages in southern India to buy women’s hair left on their brushes. Normally, it ends up in the trash. On this day, a woman who still has her fallen hair will collect 20 euro cents. Santi then sells it to a middleman.
In India, women's hair has become a commodity. Known as the most beautiful in the world, it is transformed into wigs or extensions for hair salons before being exported around the world. This market brings in a little over 520 million euros each year to the country.
A woman is about to contribute to the Indian hair market, but she won't earn anything because she's going to donate her hair to thank a Hindu god who answered her prayers. Like her, millions of devotees donate their hair to temples every year.
