The insignia of Knight of the National Order of Merit were presented this Tuesday, May 6, to Dominique David, who was a Macronist MP for the 1st constituency of Gironde from 2017 to 2022, by the current incumbent of this seat, Thomas Cazenave. The ceremony took place at the National Assembly in Paris, in the presence of former ministers such as Guillaume Kasbarian and Rima Abdul-Malak, and figures of Macronism in Gironde, such as Catherine Fabre and Alexandra Martin.
Thomas Cazenave retraced a career "worthy of a novel," punctuated by "turns, breakaways, a few rough patches too, but always with the ability to get back on the bike quickly," praising a "wholehearted, direct, authentic" temperament, a talent for "shaking the rules," and highlighting the former MP's involvement in the Assembly, particularly in the areas of culture and finance.
Deeply moved by the mention of her parents, her father-in-law, her husband and her children, Dominique David praised the quality of parliamentary work and expressed her happiness at having been part of a "renewed and feminized" Assembly in 2017, an Assembly which, in her eyes, "thanks to the non-accumulation of mandates", "resembles France more and more".
