We learned in March that the government was going to send all French people a "survival manual" to know what to do if, tomorrow, war hits our soil, a nuclear power plant explodes or a cyclone destroys everything in its path.

Originally planned to be distributed this summer, the thirty-page booklet is expected to be sent out in the fall, according to RMC , presumably during the National Resilience Day, scheduled for October. It is currently still being validated by the Prime Minister.

The document lists the actions to adopt in the event of a crisis: an industrial accident, a climate disaster, a massive cyberattack, or even an armed conflict. " Structured around three axes—protecting yourself, knowing how to respond to an alert, and enlisting as a reservist—this guide details the actions to take, the preferred means of information, as well as the creation of a survival kit with water, a lamp, a first aid kit, and a radio," our colleagues explain.

This manual was designed by the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN), based on the Swedish model. The Scandinavian country has sent five million brochures to its citizens to advise them in the event of war, due to the "uncertain times" we are living in.

Officially, there is no connection between this initiative and the instability caused by Donald Trump's return to the White House and its consequences for the war in Ukraine and European security .
