Metz. Construction of the ZAC Amphitheater restarts: nearly 5 hectares to be built on

The first phase of the ZAC de l'Amphithéâtre, designed by Nicolas Michelin – a €140 million project, with a thousand housing units, Muse , and offices – took ten years to complete. But to the south, the land remained fallow. The inauguration of the Kinepolis cinema in November 2022, followed by the Maison Heler in March 2025 , only reinforced the image of a site left abandoned.
Of course, the market had to give itself time to absorb the new programs as they came along. But the 2020 municipal elections also played a role. François Grosdidier's team wanted to "rework the ZAC's Master Plan," reports Marie Decaestecker, operational director of Saremm, the public developer for the Metz metropolitan area. "With urban planner Clément Blanchet, we worked on the fringes and the connection of the ZAC with the Parc de la Seille and the Sablon."
