Yet another new mayor for Sathonay-Village (Rhône). While more than half of the town's municipal council has resigned, Mayor Pascal Dumoulin, elected since October 9, confirmed to Le Progrès that new early municipal elections will be held in June.
" An early municipal election should be held on Sunday, June 29, and Sunday, July 6, in the event of a second round. We are awaiting the decree this Friday, May 16, to officially confirm these two dates ," he told our colleagues.
Since the 2020 municipal elections, resignations have been rife from the municipal council: nine in recent weeks. The town's last mayor, elected in October, had himself succeeded an elected official who had taken over the leadership of the town a month earlier. He then resigned for " health reasons ."

The reason for these new elections? A quorum that has become insufficient with the resignations of members of the majority and the opposition, followed by the early resignation of the 17 running mates of the "Agir ensemble pour demain" group. However, a minimum number of people must be present to legally govern the municipality.
So, see you in June and July to elect the fourth mayor of the town in five years, hoping that this time it will be the last.
