Sébastien Lecornu expected in Saône-et-Loire on Saturday for his first trip as Prime Minister

Three days after his appointment as Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu is preparing to make his first trip to the region on Saturday, BFMTV learned this Friday, September 12.
According to our information, this trip will take place in Saône-et-Loire and will focus on the daily lives of the French and health. The new head of government will likely have to address several issues left by his predecessor François Bayrou, who announced a total of €5.5 billion in healthcare spending by 2026.
Sébastien Lecornu has held the post of Minister of the Armed Forces since 2022. He succeeds François Bayrou on September 9 , who caused his downfall by failing to gain the confidence of the deputies.
Discussions could focus on the issue of medical deserts, which make up 87% of French territory . His predecessor concluded a "pact" against medical deserts at the end of June.
The details of this system, which François Bayrou called for in April, were announced at the end of June. The objective: to send general practitioners as reinforcements for up to two days per month to the 151 inter-municipal areas known as "red zones" in the country.
Another issue that could arise for the new Prime Minister is drug reimbursement. Indeed, the Health Insurance plans to make the reimbursement of drugs with low medical benefits conditional on effective price reductions, in the order of "a minimum of 20% compared to the net price of the cheapest comparator" in order to force laboratories to respect the desired price reductions.
Among the other topics that could potentially be discussed is the condition of the medical profession. In total, 640,000 nurses have been waiting for several months for a "restructuring" of their profession and their studies, as well as a salary increase.
For the moment, time is running out for Sébastien Lecornu, who must submit his budget to the National Assembly by October 7 at the latest . Lecornu has promised not to present his 2026 budget proposal like François Bayrou.
