The RN's variable geometry patriotism in the face of diplomatic crises

Against Emmanuel Macron, would the National Rally (RN) be prepared to do anything, including selling off the "patriotism" that permeates its rhetoric? Usually so quick to denounce the "humiliations" heaped on the "presidential office" by the head of state, far-right elected officials seem less sensitive to the sacredness of the Élysée Palace when the attacks come from their allies or role models. Insults, attacks, serious accusations, provocations: the end of the summer has been marked by the silence or support of RN representatives in response to violent accusations from Italy, the United States, or Israel against Mr. Macron.
This is the case with the letter from Charles Kushner, the US ambassador to France (and father-in-law of Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump), made public on Sunday, August 24. In this letter addressed to Mr. Macron, Mr. Kushner expresses concern about the "surge in anti-Semitism" in the country, and regrets "the lack of sufficient action by [his] government to combat it." This interference in internal affairs justifies the summons by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ambassador, who was represented on Monday by his chargé d'affaires. But not enough to alert the RN. Or at least to the detriment of Mr. Macron.
