'Ndrangheta, 29 drug lords arrested throughout Italy: the exchanges caught on camera

Twenty-nine people have been arrested, including members of the 'ndrangheta in Lombardy and drug trafficking brokers, in a major operation against drug trafficking by the Carabinieri and the State Police coordinated by the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate. 12 have been reached by a precautionary custody order at the request of the prosecutor Gianluca Prisco and 17 by arrest warrants ordered by the deputy Francesco De Tommasi with the addition of Alessandra Dolci and the Prosecutor Marcello Viola. The charges are variously of criminal association, drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, including weapons of war, usury, receiving stolen goods, aiding and abetting, ideological forgery of a private individual in a public document, false invoices, fictitious registration of assets and shares, money laundering, self-laundering. Dozens of search warrants have been executed in Lombardy, Sicily and Calabria against the suspects. During the investigation, which revealed the existence of 4 international drug gangs between 2021 and 2023, a ton of hashish, over 200 kilograms of marijuana and 10 kg of cocaine and heroin and 2 pistols were seized. In one branch of the investigation, investigators from the Lecco and Como mobile squads traced drug trafficking from abroad of one ton per month to supply the main drug dealing areas in Lombardy, Calabria and Sicily. In the various branches of the investigation, illicit trafficking from Spain, Belgium, Holland and Peru was reconstructed, with also the arrest in flagrante delicto, in Lima, of a Peruvian citizen leaving for Milan, caught while transporting over 2 kg of cocaine. Among those arrested is Marco Malugani , a leading figure of the 'ndrangheta in the Lecco area, already convicted of mafia-style criminal association in the 'Oversize' operation and belonging to the organisation of the boss Franco Coco Trovato, the federator of the 'ndrine in the Milan and Lecco areas between the 1980s and 1990s, and individuals linked to the Flachi clan of Comasina.
