Antitrust opens investigation into Atac, 'objectives systematically disregarded'

The Antitrust has opened an investigation into Atac, the public transport company of the Capital, for possible unfair commercial practices . The investigation concerns the quality and quantity of services provided in the three-year period 2021-2023 compared to what is foreseen in the service contract with the Municipality of Rome and presented to consumers also through the Charter of the quality of public transport services. In particular, a note explains, "Atac would have systematically failed to meet the objectives relating to the regularity of the surface transport service and the metropolitan transport, to the safety devices of the metropolitan stations, to the functioning of elevators, stairlifts and escalators/moving walkways, as well as to the lighting of the metro stations".
In light of the alleged failure to achieve these objectives, the Antitrust further emphasizes, Atac "does not appear to have taken adequate corrective measures to fill the repeated shortcomings, nor measures to adjust and/or partially reimburse the rates applied, in consideration of the potential inconvenience caused to consumers". Yesterday, officials of the Authority carried out an inspection at the headquarters of the company Atac SpA with the assistance of the Special Antitrust Unit of the Guardia di Finanza.
