Carlo Sanchez: "An important point, no regrets. I would make all my decisions again."

The draw at the "Gobbato" between Pomigliano and Real Forio perfectly reflects the two sides of Carlo Sanchez's team. In the first half, the green-and-whites played with focus, aggression, and tactical order, taking the lead through Yeboah and giving the impression they could control the match with authority.
In the second half, however, the weakest part of the team emerged: defensive lapses, a lack of consistency in front of goal, and a touch of superficiality in their decisions allowed the Granata to get back into the game with D'Angelo's goal. Despite a late push and numerous decisive saves from goalkeeper Tramontano, Real Forio lacked the knockout punch.
At the end of the match, Coach Sanchez commented lucidly on the draw, highlighting both the positive aspects of the consistent results and the need to improve in managing key moments. It's a disappointing result, but it nonetheless confirms the team's unity and desire to remain a key player in the Eccellenza championship.
This draw here on the Pomigliano pitch. You said in the press conference that they would be a tough opponent, and indeed, that was the case. You started the first half much better, then they took their measure. In the second half, they equalized, perhaps thanks to some defensive errors and a bit of luck. Finally, some missed chances of yours and miracles from their goalkeeper. What are your impressions of this match? "I think we played at a very good level in the first half. We took the lead, we played well, and we could have done something more. In the second half, however, we conceded. We were also lucky because, in my opinion, they were awarded a half-penalty. Then we had our chances, but in the long run, I think, given the way the second half went, the draw is fine. It's a great point earned on an important pitch."
So, in your view, is it a point gained and not two points lost? "Yes, I think so. I believe there should be no regrets or regrets. If this is the verdict on the pitch, we have to accept it. We have to analyze our mistakes, but today the team continued its unbeaten run, which is crucial at this time. Consistency of performance is the most important thing, and today was truly another great performance from our players."
Returning to the substitutions: would you make the same decisions again? Because from the pitch, it looked like Di Lorenzo was still in good shape, while Santiago seemed a bit listless and perhaps tired. "The problem is that I'm the coach. From the outside, you often see substitutions I don't think are appropriate. If I made those decisions, I'd make them a hundred thousand times over. It's very simple: everyone sees the pitch differently. The coach can get a substitution right or wrong, and in that case he's considered incompetent. The fact remains that I made my substitutions today and I'm confident in what I decided."
In terms of substitutions, did you also consider the Coppa Italia match against Ercolanese, perhaps keeping some players, or were these decisions solely related to this match? "The substitutions were made exclusively to try to win this match. We didn't succeed, partly thanks to Pomigliano. It must be said that if they had had the penalty in the 80th minute, we'd be talking about a different story. Let's take home this important point. Championships are won with sacrifice, focus, and taking small steps throughout the year. Today we didn't lose two points, but a point gained. We'll get back to work on Monday, because Wednesday we have a match we really care about."
The Coppa Italia, of course: away against Ercolanese. What kind of match do you expect? "I expect a tough and difficult match, against one of the strongest teams in the league. They also care a lot about the Coppa Italia. They have a deep roster, and anyone investing in a major championship has to fight on two fronts. We'll be playing alongside them, against Portici, Ercolano, Caivanese, and a few surprises. Pomigliano, for example, made a huge impression on me today. It'll be a tough championship. We'll work on Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday we'll be in Ercolano, and immediately after that we'll focus on Saturday's match against Santa Maria la Carità."
In Serie A, it's said that teams competing in the Champions League lose 10 to 12 points in the league. In the Eccellenza league, how much does the Coppa Italia weigh on points? "I can't say exactly. Let's not forget that we're amateurs, and playing is always a pleasure. The more games we play, the happier we should be. The more you play, the better you get in shape. This is a positive aspect worth highlighting. I don't know how many points the Coppa Italia could "take away," but it will certainly provide enormous motivation. Reaching the final stage would be a great achievement."
A point that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but which, in the words of Coach Sanchez, is above all an opportunity for growth. Now Real Forio looks ahead: Wednesday's away match in Ercolano, and Saturday's match at the "Calise" against Santa Maria la Carità.
