Coach Radostin Stoytchev has been suspended from all federal activities for six months. Verona Volley has also been fined a paltry €600 for strict liability. This is the verdict issued by the FIPAV Federal Court, which met to adjudicate the events following the match between Lube and Rana on January 5th. At the Eurosuole Fourm, the match ended with the Bulgarian coach arguing with a red and white fan, a season ticket holder sitting behind the benches, and Stoytchev even put his hands on the coach's neck. In applying the sanction, the Court—as stated in press release no. 7—also deemed the contested aggravating circumstance applicable, as the behavior was based on trivial motives. Stoytchev, who had been away from the Verona bench since March due to dressing room problems (the club had not forgiven him for the damage to their image at Civitanova) and who later joined Halkbank Ankara, was accused of "having climbed over the barriers and approached a local fan sitting in the stands, verbally attacking him with insults and hitting him on the shoulder and chest, squeezing him around the neck with both hands." The Verona club was also accused of "strict liability, despite having promptly and repeatedly issued press releases dissociating itself from the attitude displayed by its coach."
