The winning photo: two deer in the snowy vineyardThe photo that won the first overall prize is called “Run” and was taken by Slovenian Maruša Puhek : it shows two deer running in a snow-covered vineyard in her home country.
In addition to the overall winner, the competition also awarded 14 category winners.
The polar bear plays like a cubThe photo above won first place in the “Behavior, Mammals” category. Taken by Finnish photographer Tom Nickels, it shows the joy of a large polar bear swimming in the icy waters off Svalbard , Norway , trying to bite a stick.
“At that moment the bear revealed a surprising playfulness, a behavior reminiscent of an energetic and playful Golden Retriever retrieving a stick,” said the author of the shot.
