Italy reached the final by beating China 2-0 in the quarterfinals and Ukraine 2-1 in the semifinals. Against China, Elisabetta Cocciaretto – trailing 5-2 in the second and third sets – defeated Yue Yuan 4-6 7-5 7-5, and Jasmine Paolini overcame Xinyu Wang 4-6 7-6(4) 6-4 to recover from 3-5 down in the second set. Against Ukraine, however, Cocciaretto was defeated in the first singles match by Marta Kostyuk (6-2 6-3), while Paolini leveled the score by defeating Elina Svitolina 3-6 6-4 6-4. The doubles match became decisive, with Paolini and Sara Errani overcoming Kostyuk and Lyudmyla Kichenok 6-2 6-3.

Italy on the hunt for an encore

Italy is playing its third consecutive Billie Jean King Cup final. A year after their triumph in Malaga, the Italians are chasing their second consecutive victory. In the final round of the Shenzhen Finals, Tathiana Garbin's team faces Lindsay Davenport's United States, who are playing their first final since 2018.
